Tagging is a critical element of shark research and helps us understand the ecology, lifestyles, and movement of sharks through all the Caribbean region and beyond. You can adopt a shark for yourself or a loved one, or even for your class, school or company!

The next time we tag a shark you can name it! Imagine naming a shark for yourself or someone you love. A perfect gift and a thoughtful way of showing you care. With our GPS technology you’ll be able to follow your shark through your cell phone. The tagging & naming process happens only during  our planned expeditions, which depend on weather and fishery ban schedules. Your adoption will depend on the number of sharks we sight and manage to tag seasonally. However, we can usually find and tag your shark within 4 to 8 weeks.

Tag & Name your Own Shark on a Private Shark Expedition

USD $8,000

Imagine actually meeting your shark and helping tag them! Tag and Name your own shark and enjoy a visit to Isla Mujeres with the Masters of the Seas and shark experts. During the 1-day expedition, you will accompany a team of experts on a shark tagging, monitoring and vigilance expedition.  Ideally, we will find and tag your shark that day, but sharks are unpredictable! If we do not find your shark that day, the next one we tag will be all yours.  Sharks are tagged during our planned expeditions, depending on weather and fishery ban schedules. With GPS technology you’ll be able to follow your shark through your cell phone.

Con tu adopción de tiburón estás apoyando la investigación Saving Our Sharks A.C. en el caribe mexicano. Las actividades de investigación incluyen expediciones de seguimiento, vigilancia y marcaje de tiburones realizadas por investigadores locales en colaboración con INAPESCA y los Maestros de los Mares – la Cooperativa Kab Xok  que han dejado de pescar tiburones cambiando sus medios de vida para centrarse en la conservación de tiburones y actividades de ecoturismo para guiar a los visitantes a experiencias de buceo con tiburones.
